May 29th 1916 Dear Katie I am sure you are expecting a letter from
me this long time. I had not the time for writing
as we were three days on the march + a weary time
it was too. I hope you did not send me any parcels
lately if you did they will get lost. At present I
am attached to no division so do not write until you
hear from me again. We are having a rest just now
but I would rather be attached to some Division as time
hangs very heavy on me & I have no money I hope we
will not be here long. I keep in the very best of health
& we are getting plenty to eat & the weather is lovely
& fine. I wrote to Paddy first before we started on
the march I hope he received it alright. I hope that
Sinn Fein Crowd are entirely wiped out of Ireland
now. They know by this time the strength of England &
so will the Huns in a short time we are the boys
to make things burn when we start. I hope all
are well in the Paddock remember me to them all.
I think I could sleep out in the garden at home now
I have slept in a lot worse places out here. I have
no more to say at present I will write soon again.
