1 21 Decr 1917 My dear Minnie Millions of thanks to you
all for the parcels. I got a whole
ship load today. Enough to keep
me fed for a month of Sundays
and Xmasses. The exact numer
was five and one from Miss Ball
making six. The turkey is in
perfect condition and so is
everything else. Don't you imagine
I got them too soon as they will
keep for weeks in this weather
without coming to any harm. You have no idea what a joy
those parcels are. I wish you could
have seen me open them. First of
all I walked down the street followed
by two men carrying my parcels
and letters. The stuff is at
present piled about two feet high 2 in the corner of my room awaiting
disposal when I choose to eat
Amongst the things most acceptable
are boot laces and pencil +
envelopes as I have none. I will tell you according as I
eat things how nice they are. The
cake is in perfect condition too.
decorations and all not a bit
squashed. The peppermints I can
tell you now are awfully nice. The clothes have also survived
and are A1. I am sure to be sick
this Xmas. You might have
sent a bottle of castor oil or
something that way to be taken
after Xmas! 3 I also got a delicious letter with
a red seal saying not to break
the seal until 25 so I just slit the letter
along the top. I simply can't tell
you how splendid everything is. At present I am in command of C
company but don't expect that to last
long. I am goig on a Lewis Gun
course on the 27th for one week. I
will be near to C. Davison and may
get over to see him. I am sure it will
be A1 down there. You ar right in your guess about
the souvenir. It is one something
like the one which I paid £7 fr for Bernie. The heavy frost and snow continues
