1 10th June 1916. 9542. Sir, Referring to your letter of the 3rd instant
(Contracts.Firms.K/1739: A.G.3.) enquiring whether
there is any objection to Masonic Swords being
supplied by Messrs George Kenning & Son of 1, 2, &
3 Little Britain Street, London, E.C., to various
parts of Ireland, I am directed by the Lords Justices
to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary
of State, that the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief
the Forces in Ireland, to whom the matter was re-
ferred, states that he has no objection to the
importation of a few swords fit for ceremonial
purposes only but that the permission of the Military
Authorities must first be obtained. Messrs Kenning & Son should therefore apply to
the Head Quarters, Irish Command, Park Gate, Dublin,
stating the number of swords and names of consignees,
when enquiries will be made, and if the Military
Authorities are satisfied as to the good character
and loyalty of the consignees, Permits will be issued. I am,
