1 10th June 1916.
8275. Sir, Referring to your letter of the 12th April
last (P.W. 304361) regarding the application of
JOSEPH SEVERIN for exemption from internment,
I am directed by the Lords Justices to transmit
the attached papers in the case and to call your
attention to my letter of the 8th July, 1915, and
previous correspondence in reference to this man. I am to add that the General Officer
Commanding-in-Chief the Forces in Ireland is of
opinion that no action is necessary, and in this
opinion Their Excellencies concur. I am,

Letter from sir Edward O'Farrell (c.1857-1926), on behalf of Lord Wimborne (1973-1939), lord lieutenant of Ireland, to Sir Ernley Blackwell (1868-1941), The letter refers to the application of Joseph Severin for exemption from internment. The General Command for Ireland believe that no action should be taken.Edward O'Farrell served as the assistant undersecretary of Ireland after the Easter Rising. Sir Ernley Robertson Hay Blackwell, lawyer and civil servant, was the chief legal advisor to the Cabinet. Blackwell authorised the circulation of Roger Casement's (1864-1916) black diaries during his prosecution.
