LONDON. B 16 Gen: Hospital Nov 8th 1915 My Dear Mamma. I hope to hear from you
to-morrow. I am awfully happy & have been
having a splendid time & I am very free now
owing to Mrs Bell being here. You see my
choice with the cross on him but I hope to
send you a better one soon. The Colonel
is delighted with us and says we are
made for each other - he called to see me and I
returned it Saturday. Everyone is pleased
about it as Lester is awfully popular here
with everyone, of course it is hopeless to keep
it a secret here as I go about with him
everywhere. We had a busy day in Dieppe
as Capt. Worthian was motoring over and took us with
him & yesterday we had another
long day in the town as the Colonel gave
us his car for the day. Work here
has been so slack that we have been seeing
each other a very great deal but an away is 2 expected tomorrow which will probably make a
difference. There is no use making plans about
coming home then til I hear from you. He
expects to get leave time soon & if so will
come back with me. I must stop & get to work now. Much love
to all Dear. Do hope you'll like what you can
see of his ugly, old face. He is Dutch,
English & Spanish. He is so demented with
me I don't know how he'll ever let me go! Your loving Dorothy Colonel Thomson is the most charming man, he has been awfully kind to us and says he
feels responsible for the whole thing but he
properly certain we've done the right thing.
