Covering letter sent by Thomas W. Delaney, Crown solicitor for Longford (1862-1939), to Sir Matthew Nathan (1862-1939), under-secretary for Ireland. The covering letter relates to a report from a petty sessions case on a separation allowance, paid to the wive's of men fighting in the British army: War Office vs Kiernan. The enclosed report was forwarded to the War Office in London.Sir Matthew Nathan served as the under secretary for Ireland from 1914 to 1916. In 1916 Nathan offered his resignation following the outbreak of the Easter Rising.
