received this morning from the War office:- 'Sir, with reference to your letter of 23 ulto
'I am directed to explain that the affairs of the late maj the Rev.
'J. Fitzgibbon M.C. Army Chaplains Dept within the area of
'operations are having dealt with by the Standing Committee of Adjustment
'at the base, appointed under the Regimental Debts Act 1983 and a
'repeat of their proceedings should be rendered to this office in due
'course. Owning, Remember, to the Conditions of active service it is
'anticipated that some considerable time will elapse before this
'report is received. 'In the meantime this Department is taking the necessary
'Steps to ascertain what sums, if any, are due to the Estate from Army
'funds, other than such amounts as would be dealt with by the
'Committee. As soon as these enquiries are completed and the
'Committee's report is received, a further communication will be
'addressed to you showing the net account, if any, due four army
'funds to the Estate. I am a.c.
