16th instant I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of 2952
His MajestyÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Treasury to state for information of His Excellency the
Lord Lieutenant that They are pleased to award to
the legal personal representatives of the late Mr. Arthur James Johnson,
Staff Officer, Local Government Board, Ireland,
a gratuity under section 2 (1) of the Superannuation Act, 1909, of Three
hundred and forty pounds Ã‚Â£340:-:-
which the Paymaster General has been instructed to pay forthwith. The death certificate is returned herewith. I am,

This is a letter from Sir Thomas Little Heath (1861 - 1940), secretary to the treasurer, to Sir Matthew Nathan (1862-1939). Heath was a British civil servant, mathematician, classical scholar, historian of ancient Greek mathematics and translator.Nathan was the under-secretary for Ireland from 1914 to 1916. In 1916 Nathan offered his resignation following the outbreak of the Easter Rising.In the letter Heath tells Nathan that the legal personal representatives of the late Mr. Arthur James Johnston will be awarded three hundred and forty pounds. Heath also returns the death certificate.
