Income Tax
Michael Lamb Longford Dear Mr Lamb I enclose herewith
letter received today from the Surveyor of Taxes
Athlone with reference to the Income Tax which
the Council have been asked to pay. You will
notice from this letter that the only sum in demand
is 27/= (shillings) being the income Tax on the
head rent of £9 payable to Lord Longford You will further notice that the Council are
entitled when paying the head rent to deduct from
it the sum they pay for income Tax ffy yours

A letter from J W Delaney to Nicholas Lamb concerning the amount of income tax which the Longford district council has been asked to pay. Nicholas Lamb (b. 1861) was the Town Clerk of Longford and served on the Longford Urban District Council. The Longford Urban District Council was the towns local authority and was renamed the Longford Town Council in 2002.
