Letter from Charlie Daly to Ellen Daly, 9 November 1921
1
P41/2/1/3 9th Nov '21 Got your letter of the 7th last
night.
Mick Allman arrived here last
Sat. night. He took me by surprise
for even though if he was appointed I
expected that he would go home
first. He spent the whole week in
Dublin & was twice disappointed by
the D.E. who made appointments
with him. He was in a fix & did not
know what to do and happening to
meet one of my men he came right
on here with him to see me.
He left again yesterday to try
& hunt up the D.E. & will probably
go home tomorrow for a few days.
I suppose his people must be wor(ryi)
ng what has become of him for (he)
was to go home last week.
I think that he will be 2 to this place alright. I expect Free
will not like it but he can afford
to do without him better than I can.
Of course twould be much nicer
for Mick to be at home. He
said that he would call around
to see ye when at home. He is
great sport & has some good
yarns. So Jim McCarthy is getting
married to Mrs Brennan. Let me
know when the wedding is so that
I may send him a note. I am glad to hear that ye are
getting the house improved. I expect
to find it very snug when I go home.
This conference is a good deal tougher
that expected. After all it looks
as if they were arriving at a settlement
We will soon know now, best
wishes to all
In haste
Cormac
