Co Donegal 2 P41/8/5 Knockaneainleen Feb 19th 1923 My Own Dear Charlie I would have written to you
long since but your Mother prevented
me from doing so, Oh Charlie I had an
awful anxious time about you, but some
how I had a feeling that nothing would
happen to you, for Charlie you were always
very good. I knew your feelings very well
Charlie and the Sirit that would sustain
you to face any Pater, Oh I am so Proud
of you Charlie - Well Charlie I went
to see my big cousin he wasnt in
very good humour when I went in to him
but I was prepared for him, here said I will
talk about ourselves & Old times so we had
a long shanachee so I got him into the
humour I wanted him I can make very
bold on him we were grat chums in
our young days. so I find he has enough
of of the Old Nature in him he is a
grand Old Fellow after all - Oh by the way
he asked a good deal about you. 3 Well Charlie we are all well Thank God
our Friends are all well, there was a
letter from Tom today from Mountjoy
he is well Poor Thomas he is a Gallant
Lad too. oh by the way I ought to tell
you that Father Brennan is very
anxious about you, I am sure he is
very good Natured, of course May &
your Mother tells you all the news
by the way Charlie your Mother
is holding up bravely thank God
and your Grandmother of course she
poor woman is Praying away like
mad for you. there was a letter from
Katty Allman today she is well and
she is offering up a lot of prayers for you
herself and the Nuns, Now give my best
wishes to your Dear Comrades.
now Dear Boy have no more to say
ah yes I was very well with your letter
to me, now I will say once more that
I feel I know that you will be all right Your Verry Fond Father
