Knockane june 15th 1923 Dear Willie I am writing to you at last
your letter came yesterday, I was glad to
see by it that you got over the flue all
right, there was a letter from Tom yesterday
he is good too Thank God, There was so
much peace talk going here for the
past fortnight that we thought yea would
be home in no time, Willie It would be
great consolation to us if yea were safe
home to us after what happened to
Poor Dear Charlie. Now Willie I know
that yea must be in a terrible state
of mind when yea got the awful news
when like ourselves yea thought there
was no fear of Him, if yea were at
home with us yea would not feel it
near so much but when you are among
strangers you have to smother it to
yourself, Well Willie Poor Charlie is in
Heaven for he died Holy and a Noble
and Heroic death a Martyr for Faith
and Fatherland. Oh what a Noble Title had a letter today from your uncle Thade,
his daughter a nun

Dave Connors Father was buried this
week I think he had the largest
funeral I was ever in of course the sym-
pathy shown the family on account
of his sons brought a big crowd
Now Willie you might like me to say
a word for myself the health is good
except this Old trouble in my head
of course Poor Charlie's death was a terrible
shock to me - so unexpected too - if he
was Killed in a fight it would not be
so bitter to bear, however he was finely
prepared to meet his God, Well Willie
