1 Listowel 4.4.23 Dear Mrs. Daly, How can I in this
awful hour of our great
sorrow write to you. But my heart is
yearning for one word
of consolation from you,
your letter gave me
such consolation, when
you wrote last time. 2 I often think to myself
and ask, I wonder how
is Mrs. Daly feeling, I try
to bear up like you, for
I know you are brave,
you feel so closely
connected to me now.
Isn't our two brave boys
sleeping side by side,
they shared each other's
joy's & sorrows', everybody
in Donegal was so kind
& good to them. 3 They all spoke of how
bravely they went to their
death. But I never can
think they are dead at all.
Dear Mrs. Daly I am
sending you a copy of
Jimmy's letter, I would
like to get one from you,
I would also like to get
a photo as I will frame
them together, I will
send you a memorial
card when I will get them 4 Oh Dear wasn't it awful
when I think of it to
take their young life
When we thought they
were safe . But God knows
best, I hope you will
pray for me to be consoled
& I will pray for you
& your dear boy. The
good God is the best
friend now.
