re the College of Nursing has held two meetings. At the
last of these meetings, which was held on the 4th inst., the
Committee met a number of ladies connected with the Nursing
profession in Ireland. At that meeting the ladies present
expressed their views as to the proposed College and what
it effect would be on the nursing profession in Ireland. The Committee was informed that the College had been
established and that steps were to be taken on April 7th
to formulate the conditions of admission to it. In view of the urgency of the matter and of the fact that
there was no representation of Irish nursing on the
governing body of the College the Committee adopted the
following resolution and directed me to forward it ai once
to the Hon.Arthur Stanley. 2 Resolved : 'that this Committee representing the Royal Colleges of
Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland inform Mr. Stanley that it cannot
recommend Irish Nurses to support the College of Nursing Ltd., unless
at least one fifth of the supreme governing body of that College
consists of Irish representatives.' No answer has yet been received from Mr. Stanley. The Committee felt bound, owing to the urgency of the matter, to
take the unusual step of making this representation to Mr. Stanley
without consulting the Colleges. I may add that at the last meeting
of the Royal College of Physicians the President and Fellows approved
