My Lord,
Your friends Father Murphy &&
his companion C. H. R. have arrived
here safe & sound on their way to
the islands. They are delayed by
labor troubles at the docks — a delay
which to us is a consolation we
don't deserve. We, all of us, priests
in America make a commemoration
of you daily in the office:- 'stet
et pascat in fortitudine tua,
Domine, in sublimintate nominis
tui.

This letter was written by Fr. Peter Christopher Yorke (1864-1925), an Irish-American Catholic priest, to Bishop Edward Thomas O'Dwyer (1842-1917), who served as the Bishop of Limerick from 1888 until his death. In the letter Fr. Yorke informs Bishop O'Dwyer that his friend Fr. Murphy and his companions have arrived safe and sound despite a short delay due to a labour dispute at the docks. Before signing off, Yorke informs the Bishop that all priests in America offer a daily commemoration of him.
