Sir John O'Connell for appointment as Chief Crown
Solicitor for Ireland, and to say that Mr. Birrell has
taken note of your recommendation and will see that

This letter was written by Andrew Philip Magill (1871-1941). Magill was a civil servant and held the position of private secretary for successive chief secretaries of Ireland until his transfer to the Northern Irish Civil Service in 1921. The letter is addressed to the Knight of Kerry, Sir Maurice Fitzgerald (1844-1916). Maurice Fitzgerald was the 20th Knight of Kerry and the 2nd Baronet of Valentia. The letter acknowledges the receipt of a recommendation for the appointment of Sir John Robert O'Connell (1868-1943), a solicitor, to the position of chief crown solicitor sent by Sir Maurice Fitzgerald.
