(W/Accounts.3) Sir, With reference to your letter of 25th ulto I note that pay-
ment of Separation Allowance to Mr Butler has been stopped.
It is not within my knowledge that she is still in receipt of
such and as the Police appear to have made everu enquiry into
this case I fear it is not possible to take further steps in
the matter. I accordingly beg to return all papers. I am,

Letter from A. P. Lynch to Sir Reginald H Brade (1864-1933) confirming that the separation allowance being paid to Mrs Butler has been stopped and asking for permission to return all papers to London.Sir Reginald H Brade was the secretary of the War Office throughout the First World War.
