Letter from Mary McDonagh to her daughter-in-law Annie McDonagh, early 1920

Roundstone
Co Galway Dear Annie
I now take pleasure in writing
you these few lines hoaping
you & the baby are well. I
am very sorry to have heard
a very bad news from
America. I had a letter last
week & it said Ellie died
after two days illness. She
was the youngest girl I had
& I miss her very much as 2 2/ we were expecting her
home in March. I hope Joe
is well tell him to write
& let us know how he is getting
on. The weather is frightful
stormy & wet here at present
& the place is ever so dull.
We are all longing for the
summer to come as we
expect to see you & the baby
for a while. There is a very
bad cold passing here now
& nearly every body are
effected from it. 3 3. Michael is gone to England
this past sixweeks & is
doing well. I have not
heard from James this
past Month he is in
Scotland. Mamie is still
at home & is keeping well.
I don’t think she has any
notions for traveling
so soon again. Remember
me to your Parents and friends
tell them we all send
our comploments to them.
Mary wishes to be remembered 4 4) to you and the baby. I hope
it is getting strong now.
Dear Annie I have no
more to say in this letter
hoaping its contents
finds yous all well.
I will now close with
fondest love from your
loving Mother Mary McDonagh X X X X X X X
