Dear Father One line to let you
know all is well. I am
back safe in billets but
yout dog — tired as we had
a fierce German attack, which
our lads stood well & gave
the beans. When I
have had a good soak I
shall send you my budget. The soak will be a double one,
in a tub (to get the mud out)
and in bed to rest my old
bones; otherwise I am ever so
fit & well. Much love
