Feb. 28th 1916 My dear Monsignor, I feel deeply grateful for the action your
Council has taken in the Case of Mr. P. Breslin.— Should you think it desirable
you may intimate to him that he is free to look for another Mission if he intends
to study for the church. Under the Circumstances it might be the best Course for
him to follow, as he Can scarcely hope to become a Success at Maynooth. I enclose
a Small personal donation towards the proposed Memorial to Dr. Whitehead. Yours
very sincerely, Bern.d Coyne
Letter Bernard Coyne (1854-1926), Bishop of Elphin, to John F. Hogan (1858-1918),
president of St Patrick's College, thanking him for his actions regarding some undisclosed
event regarding Mr. P. Breslin. Bishop Coyne suggests that Hogan advise Breslin to
seek study outside of Maynooth. The letter also includes reference to an enclosed
donation to a proposed memorial for a Dr. Whitehead.
