Bishop of Elphin
This is a letter from Bishop Bernard Coyne (1854-1926) to John Francis Hogan (1858-1918).
Bernard Coyne was born in 1854 and ordained into the priesthood in 1879 at the age
of 25. He was appointed bishop of Elphin, Ireland on 18 January 1913 at the age of
59 and ordained as Bishop on 30 March 1913. He served as bishop of Elphin until his
death on 17 July 1926. John Francis Hogan was an Irish priest and President of St
Patrick's College, Maynooth from 1912-1918.
This letter acts as his approval for the ordination to the priesthood of Peter Gillooly
as well as the ordination of other unnamed students to their Orders as designated
by the college.
