This is a letter from Hannah Murphy to an unknown recipient. Hannah starts off the
letter saying that a policeman is asking her for money for her child that is in a
home of some kind and she explains how she has no money. In the letter Murphy pleads
with the recipient to get her children back, as she has no company when her husband
is off fighting, although it is not fully clear where the children are one can assume
that that had been put in a home because the family had little money. Murphy describes
how she wished to have them back now and that she would pay for them in the home if
she could afford it but does not earn enough. She asks for the recipients help in
the matter.
