Darlington Dear Sir, Thinking their is no
harm I write you enquiring
as to whether you could offer
me employment of some
description. I am twenty-
seven years of age & I am
married with no other
dependants but my wife &
mother & at the present
time I am not engaged
on munition but as a
labourer & considering the
fact that I left the Post
Office Service with a good
character after five years
temporary service as
2
telegraph messenger &
auxiliary postman. I am
very desirious of obtaining
a situation as messenger
either at the castle or a
railway company or some
position of trust but preferably
a messengers position as
there would be a deal
of travelling etc. I would
would also like to state
that I have offered & have
been rejected quite recently
for the army & could produce
a rejection certificate if
necessary & if your
excellency could help me
in my request I can
assure you that I would
do my utmost to merit
your confidence
3
& to hear favourably from
you. I remain Sir
Yours Respectfully Fredrick Wears
This is a letter from Mr. Frederick Wears applying to Dublin Castle for a job as a
