Letter from Patrick Carey to Michael Collins, 29 November 1915

1 29th Nov. 1915 Dear Sir, I am directed by the Board of Guardians to
inform you that they have accepted your tender for the
supply of 4tons of hay at Four Pounds Five Shillings
(£4.5.0) per ton. Please have four tons supplied with as little
delay as possible. Yours faithfully, Clerk of Union. Mr. Michael Collins,
Urrohogal,
Farramfore. PS Kindly attend here with your
supplies as soon as possible to
perfect bond for supplying hay

Patrick Carey (1853-1934) was the Union Clerk for the Killarney Poor Law Board of Guardians. Poor law unions and their workhouses were established by the Poor Law (Ireland) Act, 1838, as a response to widespread poverty, and were each governed by a Board of Guardians. This letter comes from the Killarney Poor Law Board of Guardians Minute Book.
