December 16th, 1915 400, Old Ford Road,
BOW, E. PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL. The Secretary.
Dear Madam, I send you herewith an abstract of the proceedings at
the Conference of Suffrage societies called at the International
Suffrage Shop on December 9th, 1915, at which it was decided to
hold a larger Conference of Suffrage societies on Friday January
21st, 1916, and to arrange which a Management Committee was elected. I enclose herewith
the preliminary Agenda for the Conference
and hope that your organisation will consider the points raised,
and send in any additional resolutions and amendments, to reach us
by first post on January 8th at latest. It was decided that each society should
be asked to send not
more than 6 delegates to the Conference in January, and that the
delegate's fee should be 2/6d for each delegate; also that visitors'
tickets to the Conference should be issued to Suffrage societies
for the use of their members, and that these tickets should be sold
to their members by the Suffrage societies, each society deciding
the price that it should charge; the proceeds of the sale of tickets
by each society should be retained by that society. As there will
be only a limited number of seats for visitors, each society is
asked to apply to the Management Committee for visitors' tickets
before January 8th; the number of tickets for each society will
2
then be allocated by the Management Committee, with regard to the
number of applications that are sent in and the seating accommodation
for visitors. The societies are asked to remember that the tickets
can only be issued to the members of their organisations. If you know of any local
societies in your district that have
no national headquarters, we shall be glad to have their names and
addresses. Faithfully yours, E. Sylvia Pankhurst.
Secretary of the Management Committee.
