Belgium 23/10/16. My deat Nancy & Emily. Just time to sent you another French
paper
"Le Miroir" — It is one of the best out here, but
I have been away from villages & shops for
over a month or six weeks so couldn't get a
copy until today. I hope you are both pretty bobbish! It
is awfully cold out here. Living in a little wooden
hut in the fields but the Padre's gramaphone
is playing now (can't you hear it?) and we are
quite comfy. I send love to you both from Uncle George.

Postcard from George D. Roche to Nancy and Eily McCarthy, written as a covering letter
for a French paper Le Miroir - “It is the best out here”. He has been far from a village
or shops for 6 weeks and they are living in a small wooden hut in a field “but the
Padre’s gramophone is playing now (can’t you hear it?) and we are quite comfy”.
Nancy McCarthy was a well-practised letter-writer, and her collection of correspondence
spans eighty years. This postcard is one of seven included in the Letters of 1916
collection written to Nancy by her uncle, George D. Roche, on active service with
the 7th London regiment during World War I.
