I am getting on all right. I have been up and
moving about this last few days, trifling weak
though, these butcherings does make one feel
that way. Thanks very much for papers. I am
pleased, to see that although you are not directly
engaged on combatant service you are doing
something to help those, whose misfortune it has
been to come in contact with Allemand and
get out second best. I read also with delight
Jack's success at the recent Intermediate exams
if he has another in the juniors grade I
trust he may distinguish himself still more. The sudden demise of Bob Coyle was rather
unfortunate he was a decent chap his first
wife was Druggan a sister of Mrs Corrs

I have an occasional letter from the Pater
he's "Bon" but a little lonely, Alice and Daisy
are doing there best to keep the population up.

This letter from Edward Sherry to his brother James Sherry (Manager of the Derry Journal)
from hospital in London after he was badly injured in the Great War. His brother Francis
Sherry died the previous year in France and his mother Bridget died shortly after
she heard of Edward's injury. He was not able to make it home for the funeral.
