127, HALE ROAD,
ALTRINCHAM. April 16/16 My dear Fred. Owing to so much
sickness due to the
changeable weather I have
not had time to reply to your
note of the 13th till about
Naomis visit. I should like to have her over
but at present it is not
convenient and I shall
be glad if she will postpone
2
it until the end of her
next term, when the weather
will be better and I
shall have more time
to discuss matters with
her. She will also be
able to stay longer than
a few days which is
scarcely worth all the
expenses. Within the next few days I will write to Naomi.
If Stuart is not
coming home for his
holiday I shall be glad
to see him here. He
has friends and can
look after himself. Have you heard any news
of "The Fanny"? Yours very sincerely, J. R. Wilson
This letter was written by John Robert Wilson (b.1865) to Frederick Hugh Crawford
(1861-1952), soldier and UVF gun-runner. During the first world war Crawford was appointed
OC Royal Army Service Corps in Northern Ireland. In this letter Wilson explains that
he did not have a chance to reply, due to illness, to Crawford's note, in regards
'Naomi's visit'. Wilson is keen to have Naomi visit him, but wishes to postpone it
until the end of her next term for various reasons and he promises to write to her
accordingly.
