1915 Dear Mr. Ryan I wd. be glad if you wd. personally accept
this vol. of my poems as I know editors do not always
get to review copies sent to them â as, in truth, may have
no right at all to them, as I a reviewer say! I wonder
if I might ask that both this, & my AE book (tho' this
chiefly) may have a somewhat longer review than the short
notes normally given in the Independent! Always sincerely Darrell Figgis 21.9.49 Given by Mr. Frank Ryan â son of
the above Mr. Ryan. Co.I.I.

In 1913 Figgis began to focus on the literary and political situations in Ireland.
As a writer he published on Irish nationality. Along with Roger Casement (1864-1916)
and Alice Stopford Green (1847-1929), he was involved in the importing of arms leading
