1st April, 1916. Sir, I am directed by the Lord Justices to inform you that
the Attorney General has decided not to proceed further
with the charge against Samuel Heron a prisoner in your
custody, charged with the murder of W.J. Quinn, and to
signify Their Excellencies desire that the prisoner should
be accordingly be discharged forthwith. I am,

This is a letter to W. Burrows, governor of His Majesty's Prison Belfast. The letter
concerns Samuel Heron (b. 1890) a manager of the Ulster Print Works who was charged
with the murder of Willie J. Quinn (1902-1915) in February 1915. The letter states
that the author was informed by the Lords Justices that the Attorney General, James
Campbell (1851-1931), does not wish to proceed with the charges against Heron for
the murder of Quinn and that he should be discharged.
