Limburg , 23rd November 1915 Dear Lady Clonbrock, Just a card thank
—ing you for your Very Kind Christmas
parcel. But I am going to intrude on your
very great generosity again & I hope you
will not think me too forward. I am in need
of a pair of Boots size 6 if you could
manage to send me a pair I would be very thank
full. A pair with plenty of nails trusting you will

Letter from a prisoner of war, T West, Connaught Rangers, to Lady Clonbrock (1839-1928). West was incarcerated in Limburg, Germany at the time of this letter. West writes to thank Lady Clonbrock for the Christmas parcel she sent him and asks for a pair of boots. Augusta Caroline Dillon (née Crofton) was the wife of Luke Gerald Dillon (1834-1917), the 4th Baron of Clonbrock, Co. Galway and the daughter of Lord Crofton of Mote Park (Edward Henry Churchill Crofton, 3rd Baron), Co. Roscommon. Aged 75 at the outbreak of war, Lady Clonbrock, worked closely with the Irish Women's Association to send basic necessities to Irish POWs. Many of her care packages went to members of the Connaught Rangers imprisoned in Limburg near Cologne.
