11 SOUTH AUDLEY STREET,
W. June 26th 1916 My dear Henry I intended writing a
line to ask your acceptance of my bags
and my own photograph but like the
"Dhobies dog" I have been running from
town to country! I hope you hear good
accounts from your two gallant Sons
& wonder where the 8th Hussars are
serving. I hope to quote the language
of old Blemis, the Irish Settlement is
presenting a fine "Protestant" appearance
but like the subject is not
2
a matter to be dealt with in a few
words. We shall be in London till
the begin the latter end of
next month and if there is any chance
of our being in these parts in the
Mean season Hope we may have the pleasure
of seeing you. My wife, &
in Kinder Remembrance to
Mrs Armstrong & your daughters, as I am
at work at Hospital Clothing and
appliances and am engaged in the
New Forest Local Tribunal. Hoping you are all well

This letter is part of a series of correspondence belonging to Henry Bruce Armstrong
(1844-1943). The correspondence largely concerns Armstrong’s estate and financial
affairs with correspondents ranging from family members to high ranking Northern Irish
politicians. At the time of this letter he was a County Councillor for Armagh, and
he would later become a Westminster MP.
Major General Henry A. Bushman was Colonel of the 9th Lancers. He died in 1930. The
letter makes reference to mutually known events and people, and plans a future visit
by Bushman and his wife.
