as he is suffering from Erythema
of the face and has been ordered
by the Doctor to keep within doors
while the swelling lasts. I have extended his holidays to Thursday
20th & if he is not fit to travel
then, I am directing him to apply

This letter was addressed to Rev Dr John Francis Hogan (1858–1918), a priest, author,
and president of St Patrick's College, Maynooth.The letter was sent by Roman Catholic
Bishop, Patrick McKenna (1868-1942).
In this letter Mckenna is informing Hogan of the holidays he is granting to 'P.C.'
who is suffering from erythema, a skin condition. He must stay indoors while his illness
lasts and thus must be granted a holiday.
