This is a mobilisation order for the 4th Battalion of the Irish Volunteers, Dublin
Brigade, assembling at Rathfarnham Chapel on Easter Sunday, 1916, at 2.45pm. It specifies
the equipment, arms, and rations to be carried and advises that anybody who has a

Patrick Pearse (1879-1916), was a writer, a teacher and one of the leaders of the
Easter Rising, 1916. He was a key member of the IRB military council, a signatory
of the proclamation of the Irish Republic (which he read outside the GPO). As president
of the provisional government, it was Pearse who called the surrender. He along with
15 others, was executed shortly after surrender.
