written sideways Mrs SheehyâSkeffington Wednesday
1916 Dear Mrs. Skeffington I have arranged 2 tickets
in envelopes up to No 240, & the typed letters
are just in & ready to be enclosed except to
fill in name & date & sign. I think letters
ought to posted by Monday or Tuesday latest.
Some other names may suggest themselves to
the Committee or to you. Would it be too
risky to send to Miss Fitzpatricks gentleman
friend who paid up last time? His address
is in the Dance Book somewhere. MKC

IRISH WOMEN'S FRANCHISE LEAGUE WESTMORELAND CHAMBERS WESTMORELAND STREET. March
1914 Dear We wish to remind you that you have not paid your subscription
for the last year and, as our report is about to be printed, we
trust you will kindly send it in at your earliest convenience
as we should regret extremely the lapse of your valuable memberâ
ship if even for one year. Yours sincerely,
The sender writes to Hanna Sheehy Skeffington regarding the form of letters the Irish
Women's Franchise League will send out reminding subscribers to pay dues. Hanna Sheehy
Skeffington (1877-1946), suffragette, nationalist, language teacher, was the widow
of Francis Sheehy-Skeffington (who was summarily executed on 26 April 1916). She was
active during the Rising, bringing food to the Volunteers in the G.P.O. and the College
of Surgeons. Four days passed before she found out what had happened to her husband,
Francis (1878-1916), and it wasn't until almost two weeks later that the full details
of his execution emerged.
