I amglad you like so much of myJudas as you have been able toread we have not been able tomake out quite all the wordsin your letter, I think in manyways that shorter poems area better thing to produce thanlong ones quite apart fromthe fact that they have a wider public so few people can give the timeand patience necessary to becomereally acquainted with a long poemand though they perhaps give that toonly one in 10 or 12 of the short piecesof the poet they prefer, he at least becomesmore definite for them than the authorof a poem they only tried to read andmeant to return to but didnt. I never feel really like writing poetrynow untill I have worked up a wholeatmosphere, and so I must be long forlack of power to be short. I enclose a letter from one of thedemonstrators at the School ofMedicine of the London UniversityThese young women who mean tobe doctors are amazingly devotedto poetry and give up half theirlunch hour once a week to readit together. They are a very sympathetic audience andif you could spare time when you arein London some time to go andread to them or talk to them theywould be very delighted & count itno end of an honour. They are quite simple and unpretentiousand far more enthusiastic than criticalyou will see that De la Mare has beenand I went.
