               <p>This letter was written by Sir Edward O'Farrell (c.1857-1926), the Assistant Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Sir Ivor Guest Churchill, Lord Wimborne. The recipient was Mrs. Mary Anne Curley.
In this letter O'Farrell informs Mrs. Curley that her children are not detained in Industrial schools and that the Lord Justices cannot interfere with the Rathdown Guardians and their exercise of power.</p>

Madam,    In reply to your letter of the 27th ultimo, <lb/>I am directed by the Lords Justices to inform you <lb/>that your children are not detained in Industrial <lb/>Schools, and that Their Excellencies cannot inter- <lb/>fere with the Rathdown Guardians in the exercise <lb/>of their powers in the matter.
