<p>A brief note from James Connolly (1868-1916) to Michael Joseph O'Rahilly ('The O'Rahilly') (1875-1916). Connolly orders O'Rahilly to 'go with motor car for bearer with rifle.'

Connolly was a trade union organiser and head of the Irish Citizen Army. In 1916 Connolly became part of the plans for the Easter Rising and was one of the signatories of the proclamation of the Irish republic, with the rank of commandant general of the forces in Dublin. He was executed on 12 May 1916. O'Rahilly was involved in the procurement of arms in the lead-up to the Rising and was involved in the Howth gun-running incident. He fought in the G.P.O. During the Rising and was shot in Parnell/Moore Street on 28 April 1916 and died some time later.
