As I said in acknowledging receipt of the letter, Ithink that the request contained in the concluding lines couldnot be complied with in a more appropriate manner than by sending you a copy of the complete letter. Besides conveying a message of sympathy to you andyour family, it is the official expression to the Committee ofthe Department's appreciation of Captain Forth's great work andof their deep regret at his death I am,Yours faithfully A.O.N. G. Forth., F.R.C.Sc. IPrincipal of the Municipal Technical Institute and Secretary to the County Borough of Belfast TechnicalInstruction Committee. It is with deep regret thatthe Department have received this intelligence. Captain Forth's wide knowledge and experience asan educationist were very valuable assets to those responsible for the work of developing techical instruction inBelfast, and being devoted as they were to the advancementof technical instruction not in Belfast only but throughoutthe country, his death represents a very serious loss to thecause of technical education in Ireland. The Departmentdesire to associate themselves most sincerely with theTechnical Instruction Committee of Belfast in regrettingthe death of so valuable an officer, and they would askthat you will be good enough to convey to his relatives anexpression of their deep sympathy.
