Gentlemen, I had looked forward to being present at stillanother of your meetings, but it has been decreed other-wise, and one bows to the inevitable. The opportunity is, however, given me to write,and this opportunity I take advantage of, to beg that youwill allow me to send you, and that you will accept, thevery sincere expression of my goodwill to every member ofthe Committee. At the same time, I wish to assure you howdeeply I appreciate all the kindness, the consideration, andthe thoughtfulness that has been extended to me during mywhole tenure of office, but particularly during the pastfew months, when I have been unable to render that full andcomplete service to the Institute which it has ever been myambition to give. It has been a great privilege and a great honourto me to have been associated so long (over 18 years) withthe development of the Technical Instruction Scheme of Belfast. The Municipal Technical Institute, Belfast, hasa great future before it, and, in sending the Committee thismessage of farewell I currently trust that all the develop-ments that are pending may be fully realised, and that theCommittoe's work may attain that high pinnacle to which itis so justly entitled.
