Of all the boys whofought against the black & tans andfreak staters none was so dearto me as poor Charley. I hearabout them them in every letter of all the many cousins I had in thedear old land there was none I loved somuch as poor Charley. I hopeMrs Daly is keeping up alright undersuch trying dreadful sorrow. I hearthe priests in Ireland refuse to prayfor them the murdered republicansGod help us! they don't amount tomuch. Give my sympathy to allthe family, and daily I will prayfor the so happy repose of Charley'ssoul. Trusting you will ber bear upalright under such drastic circumstancesand with every good wish I remain yourFond CousinRev J O'Flynn since I left home. How the threeof them were arrested by the freakstaters, but the terrible blow ofpoor Charley execution was the lastI expected. A man who did the verybest from the very beginning. I hopeTom and Bill won't be executed. I have said 2 high masses for hissoul already, but I know thatsinless soul of his is gone toa better land. His patriotism onlycame second to his religion, so don'tbe depressed. You gave him for anoble cause. It's well I remberhim going to confession at Tralee everysaturday.
