He himself (R.I.P) was quite reconciled tohis fate, and bore it bravely, as he boreall disadvantages, during the three yearsI knew him. It shall comfort you to know the officershere done all they could for them.They had the attendance of three priestsduring the greater part of the precedingnight, and in the morning they attendedMass, and received Holy Communion. Theywere all quite cheerful, as they knew theywere going to meet their Maker, and all werevery well prepared. 2. Now Mr Daly I know it is beyond my powers ofcomprehension the loss you suffer, but still tryand do as dear Charlie asked. We must allbow to God and His holy Will. My comrades here, wish me to convey toyou their heartfelt sorrow at the lossof such a fine comrade & chum.I might add Charlie always made friendsno matter where he was, and it continuedeven in captivity.
