The element section of the JSON file contains the TEI-encoded contents of the letters. Daisyhill<lb/>Ballybofey<lb/>Co Donegal 23.4.'23 Dear Mrs Daly Every so many<lb/>thanks for your letter.<lb/>We all know too well that<lb/>your dear son died a noble<lb/>death as he was such a great<lb/>favourite with everybody. I<lb/>was told that his guardsmen<lb/>in Drumboe shed tears when<lb/>poor young Daly was been<lb/>led out. As he was spoken<lb/>of as a true Patriot of Ireland<lb/>Poor boy he is gone to enjoy<lb/>the reward of a well spent life
            <pb n="2" facs="L1916_5058_img_0_2"/>
             It is the dear mother, father,<lb/>brothers and sisters tha he<lb/>has left behind to mourn<lb/>but trust you will be resigned<lb/>go God's Holy Will + you will all<lb/>be united in Heaven where<lb/><seg type="del">so</seg> sorrow will be no more. I<lb/>would be so thankful for<lb/>his photo + his last letter<lb/>that we may ever treasure<lb/>We have had masses said<lb/>for the four brave boys +<lb/>we never orget them in<lb/>our prayers although they do<lb/>not want them. When my daughter was at<lb/>home from Dublin for Easter<lb/>she told me your dear daughter<lb/>was ill + she had not heard

             the sad news. She felt so much<lb/>for her. Miss O'Donnell + Miss Blake<lb/>are in Buncrana still + my<lb/>niece M O'Flaherty is home<lb/>from <hi rend="superscript"> Mountjoy </hi>although she is not able<lb/>to stop at home as they live<lb/>on the border. As soon as you find it<lb/>convenient we will be waiting<lb/>on our dear friend's photo<lb/>for Memoriam Cards. And again<lb/>accepting our sincerest sympathy Yours very sincerely,<lb/>Mrs. MacFeely
