Town Surveyor & Water Inspectors Report Mr Chairman & Gentlemen I beg to report <lb/>that Mr Dergin made an inspection on Friday <lb/>last of both Resevoirs and walked the supply <lb/>stream from Goshen to the well house. I <lb/>pointed out to him that there was no provision <lb/>made for the drainage of the labourers cottage <lb/>recently built which he made a note <lb/>of — J.
<pb n="2" facs="L1916_3370_img_2781_2"/>
I find it impossible to get a person to empty the <lb/>pits at the back of the corporation houses. <lb/>As this is a matter of pressing importance in <lb/>the interest of the occupiers of the houses <lb/>adjoining and in fact the health of the Town <lb/>some means must be devised to have the <lb/>nuisance abated at once. There are complaints <lb/>about the sanitary condition of Bog Lane. Both Mr Healy and the late Mr Farrell <lb/>agreed to have a gate put up at each end <lb/>but for some reason the matter was let <lb/>drag on. I think it would be well if there <lb/>was an order made tonight to have the work <lb/>carried out at once. I was informed that there were 2 lambs <lb/>that died from arsenical poisoning in a <lb/>store in a yard off Main Street. I immediately <lb/>went to the place and found the lambs in an <lb/>advanced state of decomposition. I got the <lb/>owner to sprinkle them with carbolic and <lb/>lime and saw them buried the following <lb/>morning. I propose getting concrete footpath in <lb/>Killashee Street commenced this week. Your obedient Servant Joseph Slevin <hi rend="underline">8<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> August 1916</hi>
