 May 27.1916 Dear Sir Enclosed letter will explainmy application for permission todisinter a corpse buried about amonth ago. A drunken son camehome after his mothers death but re--fused to do anything or even to bepresent at the funeral serviceI understand he has since left theneighbourhood and his whereaboutsare not known. The woman was buried in unconsecrated ground adjoiningthe Workhouse. I am willing to under-take to have the disinterment decentlycarried out, and the corpse re-inter--red in the graveyard of MitchelstownChurch. Canon Abbott -Dear Canon.It is with deep regretI learned of my poormother's death at FermoyHospital & am terriblygrieved to hear she hasbeen buried in a paupersgrave, would not onefriend give her a decentburial for me, as I wroteand asked my brother to get Canon Moore to see to all arrangements& would forward all expenses perreturn mail, why it was not doneI cannot understand. My brothermust be a hard hearted wretch tosee his good hard working motherlaid away like that, when I waswilling to pay for everything. Well Canon, do you think it ispossible to have my mother's bodyre-coffined and buried in MitchelstownParsh Church Yard, it would bea great consolation to me to have itdone, I dont care what the expenseis. I will gladly pay for all. Havewritten Canon Moore also about it,& if you both can arrange forthat, you will have my heartfeltgratitide.
