            <note type="summary">
               <p>This cablegram was sent by revolutionary John Dillon shortly after the uprising. He writes in response to John P McGoorty of Chicago, who presumably wrote him earlier saying that the Chicago Irish were pleased with the insurrection. Dillon is happy to hear the positive reaction but concerned that the insurrection was more harmful to the Irish cause than helpful. He concludes by saying that the cause depends more than ever on the unity of Irish people through out the world and especially on the support of those in America. </p>
