               <p>Thomas O'Dea (1858-1923) was Bishop of Clonfert (1903) and Bishop of Galway (1909). He was born in Carron, Kilfenora, County Clare on 7 January 1858. He was educated in Ennis and Maynooth and later served on the staff at St Patrick's College in Maynooth before being named bishop. John Francis Hogan was born in County Clare and was a priest, author and president of St Patrick's College, Maynooth. In this letter, O'Dea is giving Hogan permission for his students at the college to be ordained. </p>
