               <p>This is a letter from Bishop Joseph Hoare (1842-1927) to Rev Dr John Francis Hogan (1858-1918). Joseph Hoare was born in Ballymahon, County Longford and was ordained Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise on 19 March 1895. He held this post until his death in 1927. John Francis Hogan was born in County Clare and was a priest, author and President of St Patrick's College, Maynooth.
Hoare is writing to Hogan to ask for advice and promises that his reply will be treated with confidentiality. </p>
