John Francis Hogan was born in Clare in 1858 and was an author, priest and President of St. Patrick's College Maynooth. Charles MacHugh was born in Derry in 1856 and became Bishop of Derry in 1907, a post he held until his death in 1926. MacHugh is writing to Hogan in connection with the ordination of students in St Patrick's College, Maynooth. </p>
