Letter from V. V. Giri (1894 - 1980) to Hanna Sheehy Skeffington (1877 - 1946). The writer returns tickets that the sender was not able to sell and encloses a donation to the Irish Citizen fund.V. V. Giri was the fourth president of the Republic of India (1969 - 1974). In 1916 Giri was studying law in University College Dublin and studied English there under Thomas MacDonagh (1878 - 1916). Due to close association with some of the Easter insurgents, and a fear of an Irish born Indian conspiracy, Giri was served with a notice of expulsion form the United Kingdon in June 1916. Hanna Sheehy Skeffington, suffragette, nationalist, language teacher, was the widow of Francis Sheehy-Skeffington (who was summarily executed on 26 April 1916). She was active during the Rising, bringing food to the Volunteers in the G.P.O. and the College of Surgeons. Four days passed before she found out what had happened to her husband, Francis (1878-1916), and it wasn't until almost two weeks later that the full details of his execution emerged.
